2021 Immigration Court Helpdesk (ICH) Interpreters: Remote
We need volunteers for our Immigration Court Helpdesk REMOTE Individual Information Sessions (IIS). Throughout the month, we offer IIS to unrepresented individuals in non-detained court proceedings. The goal of the individual information session is to help individuals understand their legal situations and provide additional information about possible forms of relief or immigration court procedures.
Your role as a volunteer is to provide interpretation during a phone or video call with a participant and another volunteer who will be completing an intake form. It takes about 1 hour to complete it, but it might be more, depending on the participant’s case. You just need a computer and a quiet place to make the phone call. You will be expected to sign up for the day and assist 5 participants.
We will confirm with every participant 48 hrs. in advance.
Interpreters are needed from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. If you are interested and available, please choose a date.
Individuals with Spanish skills are especially encouraged to volunteer.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 18+, Minimum Age:18+
